Free health adviceline for small businesses

In order to improve health through work, the Government is supporting a free health advice line.  This line provides small business managers with expert advice and guidance to support team members experiencing ill health.  It is currently being piloted in West London and from 1 April 2010 will be extended across the whole of London and the UK, providing professional support to companies with fewer than 250 employees.

The adviceline can help with:

  • supporting an employee back to work after long-term sickness
  • supporting an employee if they are at work with health issues
  • developing a working culture where illness is less likely to occur
  • managing your business when an employee takes time off through ill health

Contact the adviceline using the freephone number 0800 0 77 88 44.  If you phone during working hours you will be connected to a local professional who will be happy to discuss your specific requirements further.  The Health for Work website, www.health4work.nhs.uk, also includes a call back form.
