Mental health at work: new NHS Employers initiative

March 4, 2010

NHS Employers launched a national campaign today (3 March 2010) to end stigma against NHS workers suffering from mental ill health. The campaign, ‘Open your Mind’, will also work to improve employment rates for those with mental health conditions and help NHS trusts create better working environments for all staff. Heightened anxiety

Survivor guilt has been replaced by survivor stress.

Early in this recession it was not unusual for people to feel a twinge of remorse when co-workers were laid off and they weren’t. But two years of layoffs, buyouts, furloughs and general downsizing have taken their toll on the employees left standing.

Men more sensitive to recession blues

The mental scars of soldiers

Last week in the US an army sergeant was accused of waterboarding his own four-year-old daughter after she refused to recite her ABCs.
