IAPT London Regional Recruitment Closed

June 8, 2010

The IAPT London regional recruitment process closed on the 28th May.

There was an overwhelming response to the process.

Shortlisting is currently being undertaken and should be completed in the next week or two.

Some London PCTs are recruiting locally for IAPT trainees so if you missed out on the regional process please keep an eye on NHS jobs over the coming weeks for further positions.

Lack of exercise ‘worse for health than being obese’

Choice of treatments helps the anxious

How to survive workplace stress in the recession

Ruth, a company consultant, used to work 16-hour days. “I would get up at 4am and be at my computer by 4.30am,” she says. “I was working six, often seven, days a week. I didn’t see my husband for months. Even when we’d go away for the weekend, I’d take a laptop. Whenever I complained I was told I wasn’t being paid to complain.”

Millions resign or call in sick as Monday Blues bite in recession

A study for the mental health charity Mind found that almost 20 per cent of people had claimed they were ill because they could not cope with pressure in the office.

Eight per cent of the population left a job last year due to stress and more than a quarter of people said their weekend was ruined by the thought of returning to work on Monday morning – researchers found.

Stress link to financial squeeze

Working for Wellness Launches London Regional IAPT Recruitment Campaign

Working for Wellness (WfW) is the London regional implementation team for the national Improving Access to Psychological Therapies programme (IAPT). WfW is hosted by Commissioning Support for London (CSL) who support Commissioners to deliver the Healthcare for London strategy.

This is the third year of the programme and to date WfW have helped to successfully establish 15 IAPT sites in London, recruiting nearly 400 trainees and treating nearly 15,000 people.

National funding has helped create a new workforce able to deliver evidence based cognitive behavioral therapy to people with depression, anxiety and/or phobias.

WfW will be recruiting Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWPs) and High Intensity (HI) Therapists on behalf of the 12 PCTs who are looking for practitioners to work in their area.

Bipolar disorder: the ’stalking beast’

May 4, 2010

When I heard about the mood disorders study I got in touch straight away. I was diagnosed with bipolar in the mid-70s when I was 17. My symptoms first manifested themselves after my father died, when I was just 14. I was fostered at 15, and first sectioned aged 16. From then on I was on the psychiatric merry-go-round – hospitals, therapeutic communities, halfway houses – until I was 28.

Health@Work says Liverpool workers are suffering mental health illnesses

A LIVERPOOL charity is warning that mental health illness among employees is on the rise after the sustained recession.

Health@Work has highlighted a new report revealing that 47% of workers are experiencing depressive symptoms during the recession which is five times higher than levels recorded before the slump.
